Happy New Year!
As its first act of the year, my iPhone decided to shame me in its usual passive-aggressive way: “On average, you’re walking less this year compared to last year.” At 8 am on January 1, my phone set the tone for what is to come.
But I’m not having it. I am resisting. I am a fairly disciplined person, and I don’t need an AI bot to tell me what to do.
Here is where I plan to do more than average this year: more time with my wife, kids, mom, grandkid, sister and the rest of my family; more time on the bike; more time outside; more time abroad; more time dancing; more time making music and writing songs; and, more time reading and writing. In your face, iPhone!
At what expense? Working less. Instead of working as a Senior VP of Engineering at Liberty, I will continue to work at the Best Damn Energy Company Period as a Tech Writer.
For you, my dear reader, expect more from me this year. Last year I wrote ~100 short posts on everything energy for the attention span-challenged on LinkedIn. This year, I will also include at least a dozen deeper dives on my Everything = Energy account
Please consider subscribing to my Substack account to have your subscription channeled as a donation to the Bettering Human Lives Foundation and to receive my personal match.
The BHLF is a charity that leverages local businesses to bring clean cooking to people who do not have access to this basic human need.
Doing nothing in semi-retirement? To speak with my iPhone: On average, there are not enough hours in a day.

Leen, we need a choir of energy humanists advocating in tune. In the new year, we all need to start working better together. Happy holiday from Lake Michigan.
